Student Accountant embraces digital publishing

08 May 2009

From June 2009, Student Accountant magazine is going digital.

ACCA will use the latest technologies in digital publishing to bring students a new and improved magazine.

The great features and benefits that exist in the printed magazine will be further enhanced by the addition of interactive content, hyperlinks to additional material, embedded video and audio, and additional editorial content.

ACCA is also digitising all issues of Student Accountant magazine published during the past five years to create a searchable online archive, giving students an excellent study resource and access to a wide range of content.

Other benefits

An added benefit of going digital means ACCA is able to cut back on the amount of paper materials it produces and distributes, which will help reduce its carbon footprint. With 362,000 students in 170 countries, replacing a paper magazine with a digital version means ACCA will avoid mailing over 600 tons of paper around the world every year. That’s a saving of enough paper to fill four jumbo jet planes.

Next steps

From June onwards, digital versions of Student Accountant will be available, with 10 issues produced each year. There will be two further printed editions of the magazine in 2009 - in August and October - and then, in 2010, ACCA will print bi-annual special editions in April and October, containing key technical material to help with exam preparation.

Visit www.accaglobal.com/SA to see how the May edition of Student Accountant looks in digital format. And remember - the joint June/July edition will be the first digital only Student Accountant magazine.
