ACCA to shape future of business training
ACCA is the largest and fastest-growing international accountancy body, with over 345,000 students and members in 160 countries. ACCA works in partnership with national accountancy bodies in 21 countries to deliver joint examination schemes. It has also developed an unrivalled global infrastructure, with more than 75 offices and other centres, nearly 400 registered colleges and over 6,500 accredited employers.
Over 350,000 stakeholders - including members, students, tuition providers, employers, governments, regulators and accountancy bodies - will be consulted. The results will help to set the future training agenda for the accountancy profession and set a benchmark for business training in the 21st century. The consultation period will run until June 2005.
ACCA will be seeking views on a new two tier business training scheme - ACCA Business and ACCA Professional. ACCA Business will develop the essential skills and techniques of accounting, business and finance. ACCA Professional - which will be benchmarked to masters degree level - builds on core skills and requires students to apply them in practice.
Clare Minchington, ACCA Managing Director - Education, Training and Development, said:
"Our current qualification has become the fastest-growing international accounting qualification and is highly rated by employers and members worldwide. However, accounting is a dynamic profession and the needs of employers and the regulatory landscape are constantly evolving.
"The new qualification will take account of these developments and the resulting skills required in the workplace and help ensure that the high standards of ACCA's professional qualification are maintained by the next generation of accountants and finance professionals."
