ACCA Achievement Awards 2006
The actions of one individual can have a lasting impact on the lives of many. In the world of accounting and finance, it is often the individual who provides access to opportunity or advances standards in business excellence, leaving a lasting legacy for the future.
To recognise individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of the accounting and finance profession, ACCA has introduced the ACCA Achievement Awards. These global awards will be presented to individuals whose contributions deserve high-level recognition and whose efforts reflect ACCA’s core values of accountability, diversity, innovation, integrity and opportunity.
Individuals nominated for an award will be judged on how their actions have made a significant contribution to the profession against any one, or a combination of, the following criteria:
- developing the global accounting and finance profession
- developing the profession within their country or business community
- demonstrating extraordinary leadership through a lifetime of achievement in accounting and finance
- developing ACCA nationally, regionally or globally.
And it is not just qualified accounting and finance professionals who have a part to play in developing the profession – nominees can be both ACCA members and non-members from any business, local or national government, NGO or educational institution. It is the individual’s contribution to developing the profession that is important. For example, nominees may be:
- an education provider who has worked to remove the barriers to education by providing access to quality accounting and finance tuition programmes
- a government or NGO representative who has been active in developing the profession in their country
- an ACCA member who has championed the cause of integrity, accountability and professional ethics in the accounting and finance community
- a member of another professional body who has been active in building the profession in their country, region or internationally.
To reflect ACCA's position as the world's largest international accountancy body, ACCA Achievement Award winners will be selected annually from each of the following regions: Africa and the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
