ACCA Realise
Members should review ACCA's state-of-the-art microsite on the ACCA global website – ACCA Realise which was released on 25 October 2004:
As a first step in determining what CPD you should be doing it would be beneficial for all members to use the Professional Development Matrix on the ACCA Realise to determine what learning they will require to keep their skills current and develop their skills for the future. Members should also find out about what qualifies as CPD and verifiable CPD. It is not just about face-to-face courses, but all workplace learning, mentoring, coaching and the like are valid CPD and can be verifiable if you can provide evidence that you undertook the learning activity. The ACCA Realise site also provides tools to help you find out what is available, including a range of web-based learning opportunities and CPD seminars.
Chapter Presentations and Calendars
Calendars of local events for the different chapters across Canada are sent out at the start of the year and posted on the events section of this ACCA Canada website. These are also accessible through the ACCA Realise microsite. Notices about the events are sent to local members by e-mail about three weeks prior to the date of each event.
We are also currently working to develop the 2007 calendar ahead of the end of the year and to provide you with a draft of this for your review and for your input on improvements that can be made in the choice of topics, level of detail, scope of presentations, presenters and the range of subjects covered in some of the main chapters across Canada. Please take a few minutes to provide us with your input when you receive an e-mail or a form regarding this at an upcoming event. It will greatly assist ACCA Canada to improve its CPD offerings specifically for Canadian members.
Partnerships with Other CPD Providers
ACCA has also established partnerships in Canada with other organizations and in many cases ACCA members can access the Professional Development offerings of these organizations in different parts of Canada at their member rates or at a discount. In doing this we have sought to address two primary concerns expressed by our Canadian members. Firstly, we have sought to provide opportunities for members to obtain face-to-face CPD in parts of Canada where the number of ACCA members does not allow us to organize dedicated CPD events for members in those areas. Secondly, we have sought to provide a wider range of opportunities and members in Alberta, BC and Ontario looking for other learning opportunities or to fulfill their requirements for the year may also want to check the following sections and the various partner-related CPD opportunities that may be of interest.
