Accountancy Scholarships Up for Grabs
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is now offering full scholarship awards to young, talented and dynamic individuals who wish to pursue accountancy as a future profession; under a scheme entitled ACCA Nurture. Each scholarship is worth $12,000.
In January 2006, ACCA announced its new professional qualification, which will be first examined in December 2007. Named the ACCA Qualification it will build on the success of the current Professional Scheme, which has become the world’s fastest-growing international accounting qualification. The new qualification includes an online training module on professional ethics.
Penelope Phoon, Country Head of ACCA Singapore said: “The needs of employers and the regulatory landscape are constantly evolving. To stay relevant and effective accounting qualifications must keep up with these changes. The new ACCA qualification is a timely response to these changes.”
“To celebrate the new ACCA Qualification, scholarships are being awarded this year. This will enable our youth to take full advantage of the opportunities that the accounting profession offers via the ACCA route. The awards will also boost interest in our youth in Singapore to carve-out a career within the accounting profession which is currently facing a significant shortfall in meeting the demand from the region and globally,” she added.
Applicants who are between 18 years to 30 years old as at 30 April 2007 are encouraged to apply. They should have a minimum of two A Levels and three GCSEs or equivalent in five separate subjects, including English and Mathematics.
