An insight into business success in the north east

On 30  March 2010, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) will be hosting an evening event for budding entrepreneurs, small business owners and accountants in the north east to provide 'an insight into the characteristics of business success'. The evening will see businessman and philanthropist Sir Peter Vardy interviewed by motivational business speaker Jeff Grout.

Sir Peter Vardy and Jeff Grout will be discussing the mechanics of business success and the role accountants can play to support businesses.

'In a tough business environment, small business owners need plenty of support to help negotiate economic obstacles,' says Dona Skaife, ACCA's Northern Counties Network President. 'The event will allow entrepreneurs and business owners to come together to share their experiences with each other while giving them the opportunity to take advice from a north east business giant.

'We are delighted to welcome Sir Peter Vardy and Jeff Grout to our event and our guests will no doubt benefit from advice grounded in decades of business experience in the North-East.'

Sir Peter Vardy has had a long association with the north east having been chief executive of Reg Vardy plc, long-time sponsors of Sunderland AFC, for two decades. Alongside his business activities, Sir Peter has spent the past two decades supporting youth projects in the UK and Africa through his charity, the Vardy Foundation.

His interviewer for the evening, Jeff Grout, is listed in 100 Best Business Speakers in Britain.

The event will be hosted at Emmanuel College in Gateshead from 6-8.30pm and there will be refreshments and a light buffet provided. The evening is open to both members and non-members.

Tickets will cost £15 (including VAT) and all bookings and enquiries should be directed to bookings.north@uk.accaglobal.com or 01904 567310.
