Dr Ernest Kan

Dr Kan is a partner with Deloitte & Touche in Singapore. ACCA was his first choice of professional qualification because: 'It has an excellent global reputation which is highly credible. In addition, the letters "ACCA" are a tangible demonstration of my professional competence.'
A highlight of Dr Kan's long and distinguished career was being made a Partner at Deloitte & Touche in 1994. He is also a board member of Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore, the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). As well as these responsibilities, he also manages to find time to be a member of Council of the Singapore Zheijiang Economic and Trade Council, the ASEAN Federation of Accountants and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS).
Dr Kan feels his most significant personal achievement was being appointed president of ACCA Singapore in 2003. In the future, Dr Kan hopes to continue to contribute to the development of the accounting profession. He states: 'My hope is that the profession continues to be dynamic, robust and innovative.'
Dr Kan feels that accountants can demonstrate responsibility through high levels of competency and integrity, as well as an awareness of the interests and needs of stakeholders.
