Owen Zhangke |
Deputy Director General, Chinese National Audit Office Training Center, China
When Owen Zhangke was studying at university, auditing was a relatively new profession in China. "I wanted to be the one of first auditors in China, so I chose to major in auditing at university. My professor told me that if I studied for the ACCA qualification and worked hard I would have a bright future.
"For me, the key benefit of ACCA is it has given me the ability to think and study effectively. Studying for the ACCA qualification is quite different from a college education. It taught me how to think and how to sharpen my analytical skills."
Owen welcomes the broad business view the ACCA qualification has given him. "I feel my knowledge is much richer, not only in accounting and auditing, but also IT and management."
In 1989, after graduating from university, Owen joined the Chinese National Audit Office (CNAO), where he spent nine years as an auditor. In 1998, he became a tutor at the CNAO Training Center. "My main role is training CNAO staff and offering them support through their ACCA studies. The most memorable point in my career was becoming a tutor. It is a great challenge for me and gives me the chance to make a contribution to the development of the Chinese economy."
