Annual review 2006
INTRODUCTION FROM THE ACCA PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE
At the end of 2006, ACCA was in a strong position, delivering on its strategy in all areas. Our performance is especially encouraging in that we are delivering progress against a five-year strategy, agreed by Council in 2005. Through the development of consistent performance measures, we are able to monitor our progress towards our goal - to be the leading global professional accountancy body by reputation, influence and size by 2010.
While ACCA's growth continued to be strong in 2006, we are also pleased to record considerable achievements in a wide range of areas, reflecting ACCA's broader goals to support the global accountancy profession, engage with its members, and work in the public interest.
We also continue to extend our global reputation and reach, particularly through new partnerships with organisations such as the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada and the Securities & Investment Institute. Working with our partners, we are extending global recognition and increasing the range of services available to our members, adding to ACCA's overall value proposition as a global accountancy body.
Working through our global network of offices, and harnessing the influence of our members, we are making significant contributions to public policy around the world and building our awareness in employment markets. ACCA is also an influential voice in the global accountancy profession, through its contributions to the International Federation of Accountants and its committees and regional bodies, and through its high-profile lead sponsorship of the World Congress of Accountants, held in Turkey last November. We have also been able to extend our reputation in global audit regulation, obtaining several prestigious audit monitoring contracts. We have invested considerably in the development of the ACCA Qualification, which has been refreshed following a comprehensive global consultation, with a focus on professionalism and ethics. We expect the new qualification to continue ACCA's success as a relevant, broad-based accounting qualification, providing skills required by employers around the world.
ACCA's considerable achievements continue to be made through the support, skills and application of its students and members, Council and its employees. ACCA's employees, who come from some 50 nationalities, are proud to work for ACCA and to contribute to its success.
We thank everyone for their continuing commitment and support around the world.
