Training and CPD
BEIJING
- To help ACCA tutors both from the local tuition providers and the universities run ACCA classes across China, ACCA Beijing organised a Train the Trainer programme in July. The event attracted 102 tutors from 16 universities and six tuition providers from all parts of the country. Sunway College provided training on Papers F7 to P3 while the Training Centre of CNAO invited their tutors for Papers F1, F2 F3, and F9 to give lectures. Rhys Johnson, ACCA head of education and development, ASEAN and Australasia, gave a general introduction to the new ACCA Qualification and general ACCA teaching techniques, attracting 72 tutors to his session.
- In December, a smaller Train the Trainer programme was organised for tutors from Beijing. The Accountancy Training Company provided the training, covering Papers P1, P2, P3, P5 and P7. Twenty local tutors from eight universities and tuition providers attended, and feedback showed that a very high percentage of participants were satisfied. Both training programmes helped local tutors improve in technical areas and in teaching methodology.
- Another programme, jointly organised by CICPA and ACCA, took place in August in Xiamen, south China. Seventeen outstanding teachers, selected from 16 Chinese universities that have a CPA major, were trained by senior ACCA members. Training focused on auditing, risk assessment and control, professional ethics, and auditing teaching and facilitation skills.
- In June, a CICPA delegation led by Wang Liran, advisor to CICPA, visited ACCA. The delegation comprised four staff from CICPA and 24 practising CPAs from various accounting firms throughout China. The visit focused on the practice and experience of the internationalisation of the UK accountancy profession, the potential and prospect of Sino-British cooperation in the area of accountancy, and the implementation of IFRS in the UK.
