BEIJING
- In June, eight certificates were awarded to new Approved Employers for trainee development and CPD; a further 20 employers were recognised in December including Sinochem, DHL Beijing, Pearson Group, Infront China, ASIMCO Technologies Limited, the Bank of East Asia (China) Xi'an Branch, and Higher Education Press.
GUANGZHOU
- An ACCA Employer Forum was held for the first time in Guangzhou in November where ACCA revealed the results of its research entitled 'The Finance Professional in 2020'. Around 50 HR specialists and finance and accounting professionals attended the event and explored best practices in talent recruitment and retention. The Approved Employer Award ceremony was held following the Forum.
- ACCA designed and circulated 5,000 copies of its Campus Recruitment Leaflets on university campuses in South China in September and October, promoting recruitment information about ACCA Approved Employers. Employers participating in the promotion included Big Four firms, Amway, ZTE Corporation, and Ping An Insurance (Group) Co Ltd.
- A 'new member gathering' was held in Shenzhen where Right Management gave a presentation on elements contributing to the success of a professional. The VP of Kingdee International Software Group shared his views on cultural differences between local enterprises and multinational companies.
SHANGHAI
- A half-day tax training event was provided for staff from Approved Employers.
- The ACCA Apprenticeship Day was held in October, to help ACCA students in leading universities access more on-the-job training opportunities and to offer ACCA Approved Employers an efficient and effective way to recruit young talent for internship or permanent positions. The event was part of the ACCA Shanghai Apprenticeship Programme, which seeks to link employers with ACCA students at all stages of their studies. Partner employers who take part in the initiative are committed to offer at least two vacancies, whether internships or permanent positions, to ACCA apprentices each year and to assign a mentor to each ACCA apprentices. In return, employers receives benefits including immediate vacancy filling for part-term or trainee positions, and priority status at ACCA Apprenticeship Days, which are held on campuses twice a year and which give access to highly motivated students, with a broad range of finance knowledge and skills. All students, especially those who had to travel a long distance to Shanghai, were very grateful for the opportunity given by ACCA to meeting HR and finance professionals from multinational companies. The Apprenticeship Programme was officially launched by ACCA president Gill Ball at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE).
