Reputation and influence
- The outstanding development of 2007 was the extension of the existing Joint Examination Scheme, with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). ACCA has a very strong relationship with ICPAC, which includes collaboration on professional examinations, CPD and audit monitoring services.
- Two business relationship managers conducted monitoring and business development visits in Cyprus during March and September. They held meetings with employers; attended a three day British Council Education UK Careers Fair in Nicosia; held four student PER presentations; and also met with T Phillipou, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) CEO.
- Continued close contact with Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce/Industry/Tourism, Ministry of Education, British High Commission, and ICPAC (the Institute of Certified Chartered Accountants of Cyprus)
- Meetings were organised with employers and tuition providers
- Regular meetings were held with the Cyprus Council Member and Cyprus Assembly Representative
- Reputation building:
- Meetings with politicians, especially with the Minister of Education towards the granting of approval/accreditation for the academic ACCA-related course
Members’ achievements
- Chris Papas, an ex-Cyprus Assembly Representative was named 'Outstanding leader of the Cypriot profession' and given a European Award.
- ACCA members continue to work at the most senior levels of the profession throughout Cyprus. The accountant general, auditor general, and commissioner of the Inland Revenue are all ACCA members. Throughout the profession, ACCA members can be found as partners - from the Big Four to sole practitioners.
