- Al Gore (former US Vice President) spoke at an event on ethics and sustainability in August with nearly 400 guests attending, including senior government officials, ACCA members, business leaders and 10 corporate sponsors, including JP Morgan, American Express, AIG, Bank of China, PwC, KPMG, ING, the British Consulate, Baker and McKenzie, and Marsh Hong Kong. Also present were representatives of Lexus, the official transport sponsor, the Financial Times, the official media sponsor, and Business Chambers who endorsed the event. - The theme of the Annual Conference, held in June, was 'Enhancing Shareholder Value in an Increasingly Regulated Environment'. Eighteen experts looked at the issue from the perspectives of regulators, senior management and investors. The topics addressed included the link between regulation and economic growth in Asia, adding value for stakeholders, how to develop business strategy to cope with regulatory pressures, IFRS convergence and narrative reporting in financial reports.
