- ACCA has built up a close working relationship with the Government and regulators (ODCE, The Financial Regulator, IAASA and the Registrar of Credit Unions) during the past year, participating in all major policy and technical initiatives, including participation on a working group with the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment on the amended 8th Directive. ACCA was also instrumental in developing technical guidance on credit union reporting.
- ACCA has been recognised as an official Awarding Body by the Irish Educational Regulatory Authority's Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC). The ACCA Qualification has been assigned to level 9 of the Irish National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Level 9 holds Irish postgraduate qualifications, such as postgraduate diplomas and masters degrees.
- ACCA Ireland hosted two training sessions for the Business Journalists Association of Ireland.
- ACCA Ireland issued 22 'technical' press releases (on accounting, auditing, taxation and investment business issues) in 2007, achieving 56 press mentions in the year including five live radio interviews with ACCA technical staff. This is in addition to press coverage of the graduation, social and other major events.
- ACCA presented at two sessions at the inaugural Gradireland Conference in May.
- ACCA Ireland hosted the first joint event with the Securities and Investment Institute in October at the IFSC, Dublin. Robbie Kelleher, chief economist, Davy, spoke to 115 members of both organisations on 'prospects for the Irish economy and the impact of the falling house prices'. Plans for 2008 include another event in Dublin and a regional event in Waterford.
- ACCA Ireland hosted a one-day conference for health sector professionals in association with the Health Service Executive in March. Speakers included Brendan Drumm, CEO, HSE, and ACCA Council members Brian McEnery and Dean Westcott. The audience of 130 included ACCA members, and ICAI and CIMA colleagues from throughout Ireland. This initiative raised ACCA Ireland’s profile in the health sector and supported the on-going relationship with this key employer.
