Reputation and influence
Relationship management and development included:
- British Council - joint CPD activities organised
- University of Mauritius - presented a shield to the best student and organised joint CPD activities; exemption for university degrees
- PricewaterhouseCoopers - a major local employer, ACCA is working with the firm to facilitate the exemptions and registration processes
- Ernst & Young - joint CPD activities organised; sponsored the graduation ceremony
- Rogers & Co Ltd - sponsored the professionalism and ethics event
- Financial Reporting Council - initiated a process to undertake joint technical activities.
Members’ achievements
- Swadeck Taher, deputy chief executive officer, chief finance officer, and company secretary, British American Investment Co (Mauritius), was the winner of the Africa and the Middle East ACCA Achievement Awards 2007
- 17 ACCA members are CFOs and CEOs of SBM, STD Bank, Barclays, Appavoo, SIT, Shell, University of Mauritius, Standard Chartered, DBM, Abacus, Mtius Leasing, Innodis, Gamma, BA Investment, Naiade Resorts, Sun Resorts, and Air Mauritius
- Around 200 students work in listed companies
- Total number of ACCA members - 150
- In the public sector, ACCA members hold the posts of director of audit, accountant general, and four are directors of the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
