- Initiatives launched to improve Council/UK Members’ Network liaison included the Presidents’ Day and the ACCA UK Committee Communique.
- ACCA organised two new Financial Services Roadshows at Citigroup (July) and HSBC (October) which included CPD and professional skills course workshops for finance staff delivered by an external consultant, Frances Hall.
- In March 2007, Student Support compiled a new listing of over 30 Study Support courses and lectures available from UK registered ACCA tuition providers. The courses included booster lectures on specific ACCA papers/topics, but the majority were dedicated to exam and revision techniques. The listing was added to the ACCA UK website and promoted via an online campaign to over 49,000 CAT and ACCA students eligible to enter for the June exams.
- Technical Advisory services: To date 759 UK members have requested and have been sent a model set of FRSSE 2007 accounts with FRSSE and Companies Act references; a short summary (for the benefit of company directors) highlighting the role of the professional accountant; and simple information sheets (for the benefit of company directors) which highlight the differences between audited and un-audited accounts, why accounting information helps achieve the goal of good financial management, and why you need to question the use of abbreviated accounts.
- In March 2007, Student Support organised four Exam Review Evenings in London. These were hosted by Kaplan and covered Papers 2.3 to 2.6 plus all Part 3 Papers (except 3.3 and 3.4).
- In July and October 2007, Student Support ran three days of membership consultation meetings for affiliates in London. ACCA staff saw a total of 200 affiliates, including 92 Membership Application assessments and 108 STR/Practical Experience reviews. Forty two out of 92 affiliates had their membership applications accepted, and the feedback received was overwhelmingly positive.
- ACCA’s new PER and TDM were launched in April 2007 and UK staff conducted a series of presentations hosted by Kaplan Financial and BPP centres throughout the Spring and Autumn. A total of 40 PER presentations took place.
